Exclusive interview with Ing. Gerhard KARL CEO of Southwest Greens Central Europe and main sponsor of In City Golf Innsbruck 2021.

We had the pleasure to have an exclusive interview with Ing. Gerhard KARL, CEO of Southwest Greens Central Europe and main sponsor of In City Golf Innsbruck 2021, to talk about the beginning of the partnership and the upcoming In City Golf event:

How did the partnership with Kurt Anrather and the In City Golf event series actually start?

I like to remember the early days in Cortina 10 years ago. Despite a very short initial meeting, we were on the same page right from the start, and so a wonderful partnership and friendship grew over the years.

What is special about In City Golf for you, especially as main sponsor?

For me, In City Golf is the definition of joy. It is a wonderful event that combines the pleasure of socializing, fun, playing the game and doing serious business.
Each event is perfectly organized, has a very high quality and offers an optimal basis to make new friends and customers.

Southwest Greens produces artificial turf and private golf courses of the extra class: but what exactly distinguishes Southwest Greens from other artificial turf?

After years of research, a product was developed 22 years ago that comes 99.9% close to the playing characteristics of a natural green.
With this artificial turf we can build almost any ondulation. The green is playable even from a distance of up to 200 meters and it even accepts the backspin. In addition, we can adjust the rolling speed of the golf ball on the green according to the customer’s wishes and change it at any time – from stimp 8 to 14.This is also the reason why more than 70 PGA tour players practice on one of our greens.
In 2016, the renowned trade magazine GolfDigest launched an award for the best artificial turf for golf courses. We have been proud award winners in this category for 5 years.

Are you a passionate golfer yourself?

Yes, 35 years ago I got to know and then love this game – golf is really my passion.
I am very happy that I was able to turn my passion into my profession.
