This time the Italian Golf Champion Giulia Sergas (tee off from the cable car in Cortina – 2011, tee off from the Arnolfo Tower in Florence – 2012) was faced with a new challenge: Shot the ball through a Helicopter to land than on the green.

Vienna is different – the city center became a golf course again!

In City Golf Merano 2017: spectacular and glamorous

Golf entered the streets, the promenade and the squares, and found itself at home, in the elegant city of Merano.

On Saturday, July 15, the city on the Passirio hosted “In City Golf”, an event that in the recent years took place in locations famous for its art and culture but also for in touristic top locations as Florence, Verona, Berlin, Vienna, Cortina and Livigno.

72 players invited by the tourist authority of Merano, which organized the event in collaboration with the agency Curtes. Among them were well-known faces from sports (the cycling champion Claudio Chiappucci – among other things also a winner of a hole at the In City Golf tournament in Merano -, former football player Beppe Dossena, ski star Peter Fill) and entrepreneurship, local and not only. All together, passionately, to have fun and to break down the “logistic” fences of golf, bringing it in close contact with people. The audience has proven to appreciate the proposal, aligning along the route to perform performances that have combined amazing architectural and landscape scenes (eg Piazza Terme, Sissi Park, Wandelhalle) to original performances (great skill needed to overcome the Passing or centering the opening of a shoe, for example), attracting great interest and applause.

Instead of rewarding a winner, “In City Golf” rewarded 18, one for each hole, each of which has its own sponsor.

If the goal was to bring golf between people and in the midst of spectacular scenery, it was centered. Also thanks to the “Public Hole” on the Promenade near the Post Office Bridge, a hole where many, big and small, have come to test their golfing skills.

Merano is looking forward to “its” In-City-Golf-Event this summer

With sunshine and beautiful weather, on the 2nd of May, the kick-off for the In-City-Golf-event in Merano took place. In addition to the professionals Giulia Sergas and Margherita Rigon, South Tyrol’s best amateur Franz Pföstel participated also in a spectacular Nearest-to-the-Pin contest!

Whether it’s the Kurpromenade, Tappeinerweg, the Caste of Trauttmansdorff or under the arbours, on 14th – 15 July, 72 players will have the pleasure to entertain themselves along the 18 lanes, which will lead through the alpine-mediterranean backdrop of the spa town of Merano!

Vienna was during Easter the Austrian golf-capital

What until recently was just a dream for golf enthusiasts, turned into reality on the Easter weekend in the center of Vienna. 18 “Holes” – 9 at the Rathausplatz and 9 in the Viennese city center – next to the most beautiful sights the Austrian capital had to offer.

From the bunker-hole of the Beach Volleyball World Championships to the Burg- und Volksgarten, to the Muiskverein, the Albertina Passage and the Marriott Vienna, only to name a few of the top venues.

In addition to the well-known BMX Pro Rider Senad Grosic, ski legend Hanns Enn, the beach volleyball player Tobias Winter, figure skating icon Claudia Kristofics-Binder, bronze winner at the World Golf Championships Markus Maukner, entertainer Michael Seida and the anchorman of the ORF Rainer Pariasek, everybody enjoyed the golf courses adapted for the city.

Organizer Kurt Anrather, owner of the sportevents and marketing agency Curtes, was happy aboutt he great popularity of the event: “It was great to bring people in contact with golf, who had nothing to do before with this fascinating sport!”
